Curious about Persistence: One of the Most Necessary, Success Building Tools an Entrepreneur Believes In and Practices

The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.” - Napoleon Hill, American writer

Energy and persistence conquer all things.” - Benjamin Franklin, American politician

How persistent are you? Have you ever become so discouraged that you feel like giving up? I know that I have. But I have always been rewarded by what Dan Kennedy calls, “stick-to-i-tiveness.”

It is important to remember that in so many true success stories that those who continued to persist – even when a good outcome seemed impossible – were rewarded with success. They did not listen to the WBs (Wet Blankets) and naysayers.

As I have mentioned before, I have become involved with network marketing. It is amazing how many from this field and industry don’t last long. One of my team members told me that most of those who join are only three “No’s” away from quitting.

I chose persistence for this week’s blog theme, because I have just finished rereading Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich in which he highlights those who didn’t give up on their desires. I also felt I needed to be reminded myself, and I am also working on a new Squidoo page devoted to “Persistence Plus.”

This week’s quotations provide a delightful melody of positivity:
  • The most essential factor is persistence - the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come.” - James Whitcomb Riley, American poet
  • Paralyze resistance with persistence.” - Woody Hayes, American coach
  • A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success.” - Elbert Hubbard, American writer
  • Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success.” - Dale Carnegie, American writer
  • Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence. The extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach is the secret of winning.” - Denis Waitley, American writer
  • Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.” - Calvin Coolidge, American President

And, a couple more for the road:

Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.” - Colin Powell, American statesman

Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.” - Thomas Carlyle, Scottish philosopher

Just keep on, keeping on. Persistence will pay off! It is the winner.
